First of all, apologies for not updating everyone after yesterday's events. I was pretty tired from work and it just slipped my mind.
The North American Scrabble Championship wrapped up today.
Steve, our sole division one competitor, was 9th after round 19, with a record of 12-9. An unfortunate losing streak followed, though, with 8 straight losses; perhaps more bittersweet, not one of these losses was by more than 137 points. Steve recovered and won three of his last four to finish 15-18 with a -183 spread, good for 42nd place out of 72 in the top division.
In Division Two, Matthew peaked at sixth place before losing four of his last five (with the win coming against our own David). Matthew finished 18th out of the 115 players in his division with an 18-13 record and a +793 spread.
David had a three game losing streak today but won his last game to finish 19th, one spot behind Matthew. David also had a 18-13 record and a nearly-but-not-quite-as-strong spread of +702.
Will went 5-5 in his last 10 games to finish 14.5-16.5 with a spread of -426; this put him in 76th place.
Ken finished 3-3 across his last six to have a final record of 17-14 with a +803 spread. This placed him 29th.
Finally, Wendy in Division Four had a 1-5 exit from the tournament to conclude at 14-17 with a -138 spread, placing her 67th out of 84 players.
Congratulations to our players and everyone who competed!
