For the truly bored and Scrabble-addicted, I've updated my blog  (http://mridoutscrabbleblog.blogspot.com/) with a new entry from the Memorial Day weekend tournament in Chicago - the Arden Cup.  As always, it includes quiz on bingos I found (and a lot I missed!) and some neat definitions and factoids in the quiz answer section.

Now with that bit of ego out of the way, on to the good stuff, updated standings, stats and ratings!  See bottom for a note about ratings calculation as relates to newcomers :)

Ratings note:
In an attempt to emulate the NASPA system, newcomers' club ratings cannot go below the 500 entry point until after 13 games.  Until then, the asterisk denotes "provisional ratings".

What that means for all of us with "established ratings" is that games against players with provisional ratings don't count for or against others' club ratings, win or lose.  I -do- include scores and bingos into the other stats I keep and post here though.

Examples:  I went 2-1 Sunday, but my two wins were against our awesome newcomers.  So for purpose of rating, I went 0-1 (I lost to Victoria), and so my rating dropped.  On the flip side, Cheryl went 1-2 on the day, with one win and one loss against the newcomers.  For rating calculation, though, she only went 0-1, and so only lost one club rating point.

Should Karen and Kaye join us again (and again and again we sure hope!), once they have passed the 13-game mark, wins and losses against them will be counted the same as games against anyone else.

Meanwhile, until a player the -50- club game lifetime mark, what would otherwise be the usual ratings gain or loss from a given club session is then increased or decreased by 50%.
